New Delhi, Sep 22 (IANS) Congress president Sonia Gandhi, recuperating after a surgery Aug 4 for an undisclosed illness, has began meeting individual visitors and party leaders, Congress sources said Thursday.
“She was in her usual, composed mood. It did not appear that she had undergone a major surgery,” a party leader who met her Thursday told IANS on condition of anonymity.
Among those who met Gandhi Thursday at her 10 Janpath residence Thursday were Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and state party chief Ramesh Chennithala. They met her separately.
Gandhi, 64, had met Maharashtra Chief Minister Prthviraj Chavan and cabinet minister Vilasrao Deshmukh Wednesday.
In her first party event after the surgery, Gandhi chaired the Congress Election Committee meeting Sep 15 when a set of candidates for next year’s elections in Uttar Pradesh was finalised.
A day earlier, Gandhi visited daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra at her residence. However she did not attend the Congress core group meeting held at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s residence Sep 16.
Gandhi returned to India Sep 8 after five weeks of treatment in the US.
