Sonia Gandhi arrives in Rae Bareli

Lucknow, March 31 (IANS) Congress president Sonia Gandhi Wednesday arrived in her parliamentary constituency Rae Bareli and met senior officials to review the developmental projects in the Uttar Pradesh district, a party official said.
“Soniaji is presiding over the Rae Bareli district vigilance and monitoring committee to review the central government-sponsored development projects,” Congress spokesperson Akhilesh Pratap Singh told reporters in Rae Bareli, some 80 km from here.
“The meeting that began around 11.30 a.m. in the Collectorate Office will continue for three-four hours,” he said.
According to some Congress activists, the party president may make surprise inspections in some villages to evaluate the execution of the projects.
Gandhi will return to New Delhi in the evening after meeting party activists.
