Sonia and I work well together: Manmohan SinghApril 1st, 2009 - 7:52 pm ICT by IANS
London, April 1 (IANS) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has rejected suggestions that he is constrained by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, saying the fact that she has taken on the work of managing the party is a “distinct advantage” to him.
“I am not constrained by the fact that the Congress party’s management is looked after by Mrs. Gandhi and I can concentrate on managing the world of the government,” the prime minister told the Financial Times in an interview published Wednesday.
“It is a distinct advantage the fact that the Congress president has carried this heavy burden of managing the party and bringing various political parties together in the United Progressive Alliance is a positive element.
“It’s not a constraint on me,” he added.
