Barack Obama Sep 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Some key features of President Barack Obama’s healthcare law will come into force from this Thursday. The law, which was passed some 6 months ago, has become so unpopular among Americans that several Democrats who are seeking re-election this November are distancing themselves from discussing the law.

Republicans however want the law to be an issue in the upcoming midterm elections. They are promising repeal of the law and latest poll from Rasmussen reveal that about 61 percent of likely American voters support repeal of the law with some 33 percent against repeal of the healthcare law.

Some leading Democrats however believe that the information on the health care law have not been managed well. They believe most Americans have been misinformed on the law, hence the negativity that most Americans associate with the law.

The key features set to commence on Thursday include

1. Young adults who are below 26 years, can stay on their parent’s insurance plan

2. Children cannot be denied coverage by insurance companies with pre-existing conditions.

3. People who get sick cannot be dropped by insurance companies.

Republicans have promised Americans that if they get the required number of congressional seats in the midterm elections, they will modify the law or repeal it altogether.

The law will fully be operational in 2014 and it will require all Americans to obtain a form of health insurance and the law forbids any insurance company from rejecting anyone from registering with them because of a pre-existing illness.
