Kolkata, April 8 (IANS) Teachers, non-teaching staff and former students of Visva Bharati University founded by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore Friday held a sit-in to express their solidarity with social activist Anna Hazare who is on a fast unto death demanding a strong anti-graft law.

Around 100 members of the Adhyapak Sabha, the professors’ representative body, and the Karmi Sabha, the association for non-teaching staff, held the hour-long sit-in near the historic upasana griha (prayer room) at the university campus at Bolpur in Birbhum district.

“We have assembled here to support the cause of Anna Hazare, who is fighting a crusade against corruption,” said Adhyapak Sabha president Kishore Bhattacharya.

Several former students of Visva Bharati also joined in the protest.
