Singapore prime minister, new cabinet sworn in
May 21st, 2011 - 10:13 pm ICT by IANSSingapore, May 21 (IANS) Singapore’s new cabinet was sworn-in Saturday with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong promising that his government will evolve in tandem with the aspirations of a new generation of Singaporeans, Xinhua reported.
President S.R. Nathan administered the oath of office to the prime minister and his new cabinet. The swearing-in ceremony for the 15 ministers and 10 ministers of state was held at the Istana, the President’s House.
“The government cannot stand still. It must evolve in tandem with our society and our people. That is the best way for our government to serve and to govern, in accord with the spirit of the times and the aspirations of our people,” said Prime Minister Lee.
The 11th parliamentary elections were held May 7 after the president dissolved parliament April 19.
