Sikkim NCP chief’s son held with ‘unaccounted’ cash

Gangtok, April 23 (IANS) The son of the state unit president of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was arrested Thursday after he was found in possession of an “unaccounted” sum of Rs.10 lakh, the state police said.
“The arrest took place around 4 p.m. Thursday evening during a routine search at the Rangpo checkpost where inspector K.B. Gurung discovered the money hidden in the boot of the car of Lalam Subba, the son of state NCP president Ashok Kumar Tsong,” Superintendent of Police (East) M.S. Tuli said.

Preliminary police investigation revealed that the money belongs to the NCP state unit president and was to reach him Thursday.

“The police found no relevant receipts for the cash on Subba who is the eldest son of Tsong. We are still investigating the case,” Tuli said.

The police have seized the money along with the vehicle.
