Mumbai, Dec 2 (IANS) A delegation of Shiv Sena members Tuesday met President Pratibha Patil here and urged her to immediately dissolve the state legislature and impose President’s Rule as “the people have lost faith” in the state government in the wake of the Mumbai terror strikes. The delegation led by party executive president Udhav Thackeray called on the president and submitted a written memorandum, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, who was also part of the delegation, told IANS.
“We informed the Honorable President that by merely removing the home minister in the state and Centre or removing the chief minister will not help. This (state) government has failed on all counts and deserves to be sacked immediately,” he said.
The delegation also included former Lok Sabha speaker Manohar Joshi and MP Bharat Kumar Raut.
Sanjay Raut said they told Patil that in the past two years, the central government had alerted the state government seven times of a possible terror attack in Mumbai and that the terrorists could arrive by the Arabian Sea route.
Patil arrived in Mumbai Monday evening and visited those injured in the attacks at J.J. Hospital.
