Agra, July 21 (IANS) Shiv Sena activists, who argue that the Taj Mahal was built on the site of a Shiva temple, attempted to perform Hindu rituals at the monument here Monday afternoon but the police prevented them from entering it. The activists were forced to perform their arti and puja ritual at the Taj Corridor overlooking the white marble mausoleum as the police did not allow them to move within the 500-metre security ring around the Taj.
The Shiv Sena had announced its plans to perform the arti and puja at the Taj on Monday, the first day of the Hindu holy month of Shravan.
