Shekhar Dutt sworn in as Chhattisgarh governor
January 23rd, 2010 - 9:05 pm ICT by IANSRaipur, Jan 23 (IANS) Former defence secretary Shekhar Dutt was sworn in Saturday as the governor of Chhattisgarh at a brief function held here at the Raj Bhawan.
Chhattisgarh High Court Chief Justice Rajeev Gupta administered Dutt the oath of office in the presence of Chief Minister Raman Singh, his cabinet colleagues and other politicians and bureaucrats.
Dutt, a 1969 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, is the fourth governor of the state that was born in November 2000.
A former deputy national security advisor, Dutt succeeds E.S.L. Narasimhan, who Friday became the new governor of Andhra Pradesh.
