Sheila Dikshit calls emergency meeting
August 4th, 2011 - 3:29 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Aug 4 (IANS) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Thursday called an emergency cabinet meeting over the leaked contents of a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report allegedly blaming her for irregularities in Commonwealth Games related contracts.
“The chief minister is holding an emergency meeting at the Delhi secretariat to discuss the further course of action,” said a Delhi government official.
The opposition has been demanding Dikshit’s resignation over the issue.
The CAG report leaked Tuesday faulted the Prime Minister’s Office for letting Suresh Kalmadi run the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee.
The report, yet to be tabled in parliament, also said the Delhi government and civic agencies overspent Rs.100 crore on streetscaping and Rs.31 crore on street lightning alone.
However, the Delhi government Wednesday defended Dikshit, saying media reports quoting the CAG report do “not give facts accurately”.
The 2010 Commonwealth Games were held in Delhi Oct 3-14.
