Ahmedabad, May 16 (IANS) Congress stalwart and central government minister Shankarsinh Vaghela Saturday lost from Gujarat’s Panchmahals constituency. He was beaten by 2,090 votes by his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rival Prabhatsinh Chauhan.
As news of the defeat came in at the state party headquarters, gloom settled over the Congress camp at the loss of a crucial seat.
In his campaign, Vaghela had tried aggressively to woo the Muslim votes in Godhra, which is within the constituency.
