pot Sep 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Marcus Stanley, who was a senior aide to the Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer in California, was arrested on Tuesday after he tried to enter the Hart Senate Office Building in Washington, DC, while carrying marijuana on his person, according to US Capital Police.

CBS News passed on the announcement from Senator Boxer’s office that Stanley was no longer the economics adviser on her team, and POLITICO was told by a spokesman for Boxer, Zachary Coile, “Marcus Stanley is no longer with this office. He submitted his resignation, and Sen. Boxer accepted it because his actions yesterday were wrong and unacceptable.”

The 43 year old aide was stopped by police after he had tried to “remove and conceal” a leafy green substance out of his pocket while he was going into Constitution Avenue door of the Hart Building. The substance was confiscated by police, and it tested positive for marijuana. Stanley, who had been working on Capital Hill since 2007, resigned soon after.

Senator Boxer is very much against the legalization of marijuana in California in Proposition 19, and is currently running for her fourth term in office. This is not the first time that a member of her staff has been arrested, since Senior policy adviser Jeffrey Rosato was arrested in 2008 for receiving and distributing child pornography.
