Washington DC, Nov 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Senator Blanche Lincoln knows that she is again going to play a crucial role in the Health Care Bill. She played a very critical and crucial role in the senate debate on Saturday, as she became the 60th person to commit to moving the health care bill to the floor debate.
Senator Lincoln said that her voting yes for the Health Care bill does not mean that she agrees with all that is in the bill, but she believes it is more important to begin the debate.
However, State Senator Gilbert Baker issued a statement saying while Senator Lincoln and the Democrats won, actually Americans lost. He says the vote shows Senator Lincoln has no concern for what’s best for Arkansans. The House passed their version of the health care bill a few weeks ago.
She says, “I’ve made it pretty clear that may support is going to be dependant on whether or not we eliminate a government run, government funded public option. I also want to make sure that what we’re focused on is making sure we protect Medicare for seniors and Medicare for the providers for seniors.”
She continues, “We also want to make sure the small businesses are getting the best opportunity and the best environment to be able to participate in this and we worked on that in the Senate Finance committee with the idea that we’d have a better opportunity on the floor to improve upon that. And certainly making sure this is going to be good for Arkansas.”
