Senator Barbara Boxer’s economic aide Marcus Stanley arrested for pot possession

pot Washington DC, Sep 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Marcus M. Stanley, the economic aide to United States Senator Barbara Boxer have been arrested after security officers found marijuana concealed in his pocket.

Police stopped the 43 year old on Tuesday morning when he tried to smuggle the substance into the Hart Senate Office Building in the U.S. Capitol. Police later tested the substance and confirmed it was marijuana. Stanley has subsequently been charged with the offense.

Subsequently, Stanley has resigned his position with the Senator and a statement from the office of the Senator said that Senator Boxer accepted Stanley’s resignation because she found his action, “wrong and unacceptable”. Stanley has been an aide to Boxer since 2009. He has been working as a congressional staffer for the past three years and he was making a six-figure salary.

Boxer who is a Democrat is seeking re-election and she is challenged by Carly Fiorina, Republican. Carly is the former CEO of Hewlett Packard and she seeks to stop Boxer for going to the U.S. Senate for the fourth time. Latest polls show that Carly is leading Boxer by a percentage point. The poll shows that Carly has a 48 point lead with Boxer following closely with 47.
