reid March 12, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): The chief of the Senate Majority, Harry Reid, has to deal with unpleasant news. Sen. Reid’s wife, Landra Reid, continued to be hospitalized on Friday with severe wounds that she had to put up with when a tractor-trailer banged into the minivan she and their daughter were journeying in on a suburban Virginia interstate.

Landra Reid, 69, experienced a wrecked back and neck in Thursday’s collision, but her wounds were not thought to be detrimental to her existence. Mrs. Reid and their offspring, Lana Barringer, 49, were transported in an ambulance to Inova Fairfax Hospital. Their daughter was discharged on Thursday night, hospital spokesperson Tony Raker stated.

Mrs. Reid was in a grave state, but Reid’s supporters explicated that she was not required to undergo an extensive surgery.

Reid spokesperson, Jim Manley, declared in a statement that Lana has a neck injury and facial slashes.” Manley articulated that Mrs. Reid could experience her farthest points. Mrs. Reid has a busted nose, damaged back and broken neck.

Virginia State Police expounded that Mrs. Reid and her daughter were roaming northbound on I-95 in stop-and-go traffic when their Honda Odyssey was bumped into by a tractor-trailer laden with rolls of plastic. The shock ensured that the Reid family’s minivan crashed into a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which, in turn, walloped a Chevrolet Cobalt.

The police divulged that the driver of the tractor-trailer, Alan W. Snader, of Ohio, was accused of thoughtless driving. He was not injured. All concerned had protected themselves with the seat belts.

Reid, a Democrat, voyaged to the sickbay after being given notice of the mishap. He then came back to Capitol Hill for a conference with White House Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, and House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, on efforts to ratify the health care law.
