Security for political leaders to be beefed up in Orissa
October 14th, 2009 - 6:21 pm ICT by IANSBhubaneswar, Oct 14 (IANS) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik Wednesday said the security of political leaders in the state would be increased in the wake of a Maoist attack on a former Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MP Tuesday.
“Certain steps are being taken in that regard. When political leaders require security, they ask for it. That has been done in the past. We will certainly look into the security of the political leaders who are under Moists’ threat,” Pattnaik told reporters.
He also said the attack on former MP Sudam Marandi would be probed.
“The culprits of the dastardly attack will receive stringent action once caught. Police are already on the job. The matter is being probed thoroughly,” he added.
