Secularism should be way of life: Sonia

New Delhi, Aug 20 (IANS) Secularism should become a way of life to strengthen social unity, United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi said here Friday.
Delivering the introductory speech at a function for the presentation of the National Sadhbhavana Award to noted Islamic scholar Maulana Wahidudddin Khan, Gandhi said her husband Rajiv Gandhi and leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi had never compromised on the principles of secularism and social unity.
The award was presented by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The Sadbhavna award, insituted in memory of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, was presented on his 66th birth anniversary.
