SC restores JD-U MP’s Lok Sabha membership
February 1st, 2012 - 3:04 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Feb 1 (IANS) The Supreme court Wednesaday set aside a Patna High Court order quashing the election of Janata Dal-United (JD-U) Lok Sabha member Manghni Lal Mandal from Jhanjharpur constituency.
An apex court bench headed by justice R. M. Lodha also imposed a cost of Rs.100,000 on petitioner Bishnu Geo Bhandari, who had
contended that Mandal had not disclosed the assests of his wife and children while filing his nomination.
Justice Lodha observed that the high court did not explain how the non-disclosure materially affected Mandal’s election.
