SC Governor Mark Sanford Disappears… Again

June 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Just as he did last year at this time, South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford has vanished, but it is doubtful that he is “hiking the Appalachian Trail” as he claimed he was doing when he disappeared without a trace at this time a year ago. He was actually in Argentina visiting his self-proclaimed “soul mate” that time, and he has once again snuck out of his office without informing his Lt. Governor, Andre Bauer.
If the governor is planning a trip, the lieutenant governor would be the one to take over the office while he is gone. For this reason, the governor is not supposed to leave without informing his lieutenant governor.
South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford was said to have spent Father’s Day with his two sons. On Monday, he decided to take the day off, and has vanished. According to the rules as of now, he is not actually required to let anyone know if he plans to leave, but state Legislature is attempting to get that changed.
The State newspaper for South Carolina stated that “bill requiring the governor to notify the lieutenant governor every time he leaves the state is currently stuck in a legislative conference committee.” Governor Sanford had a romantic getaway with his Argentinian “soul mate” Maria Belen Chapur last month in Florida. He and his wife divorced after last year’s incident.
