palinWashington, Jan 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Hogging the limelight for her fiery and more often controversial remarks is nothing new for former Alaska governor Sarah Palin. In a bid to refute allegations that she played a role in infusing the violence that propelled an Arizona gunman to carry out the heinous shooting rampage, the Republican leader managed to spark a whole new controversy in an eight-minute video that was posted online on Wednesday.

While vehemently refuting the claims that she contributed to create an atmosphere of violence by her remarks against her rivals which might have led to the Arizona shooting incident, Sarah Palin also fueled another controversy by claiming that her critics had mounted to ‘blood libel’ by drawing a link between her campaign rhetoric and the outrageous shooting incident that took place over the weekend in Tucson, Arizona leaving six dead while fourteen others were injured. The ex-Alaska governor’s choice of words immediately attracted the ire of Jewish groups among others as the term ‘blood libel’ refers to the allegations that Jewish used the blood of Christian children for specific purposes, an act that was used to justify the persecution of Jews. Meanwhile, the controversy surrounding Sarah Palin’s usage of words further escalated as the prime target of the Arizona shooting rampage was a Jewish U.S. Representative Gabrielle Giffords.

In the meanwhile, the video that has been posted online has also seized attention for its ‘presidential quality’ with the Republican leader’s unusual clam tone and an American flag featuring in the background. Speculations are looming large that the former Alaska governor is attempting to revamp her image for a possible presidential run in 2012.
