pailn June 21, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin recently appeared on the Fox Business Network with libertarian-leaning Republican Rep. Ron Paul. Here, she said that the recreational pot smoking is not a big deal and there are other major problems, which deserves more concern in America.

However, Sarah is not in support of legalizing marijuana. She said, “We should prioritize the efforts of our law enforcement. If someone is smoking in a corner of his house without harming anyone then the cops should try to concentrate on other major problems in the society.”

According to the director of NORML, Allen St. Pierre, Palin’s position on the marijuana smoking, goes perfectly well with her politician image. NORML is a nonprofit lobbying organization that supports liberalization of drug laws. He said, “Being a populist, her reaction is not surprising.”

When asked if she ever tried on marijuana, the politician replied, “Four years back, smoking small amounts of marijuana was legal. I tried but did not like that.”

However, on the legalization issue, Palin said, “I don’t favor legalizing pot. I think this will only encourage the youths to feel that taking marijuana is just okay and they can go ahead with that.”

She added that the use of marijuana is relatively a ‘minimal problem’ in the country. She said that the government should come out of the fight against drugs as it is a ‘useless battle’.

Well, it is not sure whether her comments are going to encourage the youth to smoke or will they get serious about its bad effects?
