Anchorage, June 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) An ethics investigator has declared fund established for Sarah Palin when she was the Alaska governor, to be an illegal one. Reportedly, the administrators of the fund has been issued orders to pay back a total sum of $400,000 to the donors within a span of 90 days.
Timothy Petumenos who happens to be the State Personnel Board investigator told the media that the Alaska Trust Fund had used the word “official” in an “inappropriate” way in their website. Donors were led to believe that the trust fund was an effort of the former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin. What makes it critical is that Sarah Palin herself had made sure with her group of attorneys that the fund was a legal one and followed the rules set by the Alaska Executive Branch Act. As an obvious reaction to the investigation reports, Sarah Palin’s attorney Thomas Van Flein said that the trust find had already procured a total of $390,000 donations much ahead of the time when Sarah Palin vacated her Governor seat. The attorney said that Sarah Palin never instructed any of her associates including her attorneys to do something that would encourage a violation of the federal law.
On Thursday, a different defense fund was set up which shall take care of the debt. Speaking on the same note, Sarah Palin’s attorney strongly underlined the fact the ex-Governor never received a single penny from the trust fund. It was also said that the trust fund was a joint venture of Sarah Palin’s friends and her followers who limited the fund donations as $150. Meghan Stapleton who had acted as a spokeswoman for the ex-governor posted a new message on popular social networking site Facebook when she thanked all Sarah Palin supporters and also spoke about the new defense fund asking them to contribute for the fund.
