pailn June 21 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska, made the statement on Wednesday night that the law enforcement agencies should not focus their energies on the “minimal probelm” of marijuana; a statement which has sparked controversy everywhere. But then, Sarah Palin is no stranger to controversy.

Her comment was made on the FOX Business Network during an appearance with Rep Ron Paul, a Texas Republican. Paul, who is a libertarian stated that trying to enforce marijuana restrictions and the “war on drugs” is pretty much a “useless battle”. Palin seemed to agree with his point, but she made it clear that she does not support making marijuana legal.

“If we’re talking about pot, I’m not for the legalization of pot,” Palin said. “I think that would just encourage our young people to think that it was OK to go ahead and use it.” She went on to add, “However, I think we need to prioritize our law enforcement efforts. If somebody’s gonna smoke a joint in their house and not do anybody any harm, then perhaps there are other things our cops should be looking at to engage in and try to clean up some of the other problems we have in society.”

Palin then encouraged law enforcement to “not concentrate on such a, relatively speaking, minimal problem we have in the country.”
