Sangma thanks Jayalalithaa for support, winds up campaign

Chennai, July 18 (IANS) Presidential candidate Purno Sangma met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa here Wednesday.
The meeting assumes significance as it comes just a day ahead of the presidential poll where Sangma is contesting against ruling United Progressive Alliance’s candidate Pranab Mukherjee.
Speaking to reporters after meeting the chief minister who had first proposed his name for the nation’s top post, Sangma said: “I came here to thank Jayalalithaa for her support.”
Sangma, who wound up his campaign, said Jayalalithaa mobilised support for his candidature which was a great strength for him.
