Samajwadi Party MPs, media persons throng Uttar Pradesh BhawanJuly 22nd, 2008 - 9:52 pm ICT by IANS
New Delhi, July 22 (IANS) Media persons thronged Uttar Pradesh Bhawan here Tuesday after Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh alleged that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati had forcibly kept six of his party MPs inside it. “If our leader is saying that Samajwadi Party MPs were kept here forcibly, it is true,” said Rambhik Singh Yadav, a Samajwadi Party supporter staying at the Uttar Pradesh Bhawan for the past several days.
Earlier in the day, Amar Singh alleged that Mayawati had kept six Samajwadi Party MPs forcibly inside the state house and one or two of them could be rebels.
“Since Monday evening, a lot of Uttar Pradesh government officials were seen at UP Bhawan,” Yadav added.
Another party supporter, Rajpal Kashyap said, “It is true that Mayawati has kept Samajwadi Party MPs in detention. But they have been taken somewhere else now.”
Asked about the names of the MPs, Kashyap refused to name them and stated that only Amar Singh knew their names.
The Samajwadi Party supporters said they had told the police about it.
When asked, Joint Commissioner of police (New Delhi Range), Ajay Kashyap said, “We have not got any information about this.”
