New Delhi, Sep 2 (IANS) The Samajwadi Party Wednesday said it would field Dimple Yadav, daughter-in-law of party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, in the Lok Sabha by-election in Uttar Pradesh’s Ferozabad constituency.
Samajwadi Party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav made this announcement here.
He, however, rejected that the party was promoting dynastic politics. “All family members (of Mulayam Singh Yadav) are life-time members of Samajwadi Party,” he said.
By-elections will be held in Ferozabad after Dimple Yadav’s husband and sitting MP Akhilesh Yadav vacated the seat after he also won the election from Kannauj.
The Congress has nominated Bollywood veteran Raj Babbar for the by-poll. Babbar joined the Congress after he was expelled from the Samajwadi Party in 2006.
He contested the April-May Lok Sabha polls from Fatehpur Sikri in Uttar Pradesh but lost to Seema Upadhyay of the Bahujan Samaj Party.
