Sack corrupt Abdullah government: Panthers Party
June 29th, 2010 - 9:29 pm ICT by IANS
New Delhi, June 29 (IANS) The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers’ Party (JKNPP) Tuesday demanded the sacking of the “corrupt and undemocratic” Jammu and Kashmir government led by Omar Abdullah in view of the “uprising” against it and imposition of governor’s rule in the state.
“The continuing protests in Sopore, Baramulla and other parts of Kashmir are neither against India nor against the security forces. It is the expression of resentment against the present corrupt and undemocratic government,” party chief Bhim Singh told IANS.
Singh demanded that the Kashmir government should be sacked and the governor should take over the administration, as per Article 92 of the Jammu and Kashmir Constitution. As the state has a separate constitution, there is a provision for governor’s rule, not president’s rule as in the rest of India, in case of the dismissal of the state government following breakdown in law and order.
He made divergent statements on his approach to the Congress, a coalition partner in the present alliance. On one hand, he termed the party “the mother of terror, corruption and instability” and, on the other, urged Congress chief Sonia Gandhi to withdraw support to the Abdullah-led government.
Singh said his party activists will demonstrate outside the Congress party office here Wednesday to demand that it pull-out from the state government.
