Rs.7 lakh for CWG gold medallist from Haryana
August 16th, 2010 - 1:50 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Aug 16 (IANS) Sportspersons from Haryana who win medals in the 2010 New Delhi Commonwealth Games (CWG) will get cash rewards — the highest being Rs.700,000 for a gold medal — Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced here Monday.
Players winning silver and bronze at the CWG will respectively be given Rs.500,000 and Rs.300,000.
The CWG is being held in New Delhi Oct 3-14 this year.
A number of players, including boxing champion Vijender Singh and women hockey team players, will be representing Haryana at the CWG.
Shahabad town, about 65 km from Chandigarh, is known as a nursery for women hockey players.
