New York, June 3 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Reports say John Edwards have been dumped by his former mistress. Edwards and Rielle Hunter famously had an affair which resulted in the end of the marriage between the politician and Elizabeth Edwards.

A source told reporters that the relationship has been damaged beyond “repair.” The source was quoted as saying that, “[She] dumped him … their relationship is pretty much over … there’s no repairing it now.”

The timing of the breakup couldn’t have been worse for the former presidential hopeful. Federal prosecutors are currently investigating allegations that Edwards used campaign money to keep his affair from the public. A source said it is likely that Edwards will be charged after the investigation.

A chapter in the life of Edwards seemed to have been closed when his wife lost her long battle against cancer last year. When the will of Elizabeth was read, Edwards was of course left out of it signifying that his wife never got to forgive him before she died.

Edwards has fathered a child with Rielle. The Enquirer which broke the story reported that Edwards apologized to Rielle to reconsider her decision concerning the breakup but she refused.
