Aug 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Tuesday, Rick Snyder won the competitive Republican primary to gain the GOP nomination for the November state election for the post of the Governor. The self-funded Rick Snyder was able to gather majority votes in his favor on Tuesday by leaving behind well known political figures like Attorney General Mike Cox, Representative Pete Hoekstra and two others. Rick Snyder will now face Democratic nominee Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero in the November election.
As per reports, the former Gateway Inc. President Rick Snyder spent $6 million from his own pockets to run for the Republican primary. He ran advertisements in which he promoted himself as “one tough nerd”. In a state that has recorded a high rate of unemployment, with 12.3 percent of its employable population sitting idle, Rick Snyder promised that he would create 400 job opportunities in the state and around 1000 job opportunities across the country. Rick Snyder’s ads noted that the former President of Gateway Inc. is not a career politician but a man who has a different approach to the present problem of the state.
Rick Snyder, who does not have a political background as such, has already been able to win the hearts of many Michigan residents. Many from Lansing have voiced that they feel Rick Snyder has the potential to change the present situation of the state. 54-year-old Dearborn resident Jim Kwilos, a sales representative and Republican has voiced in front of a media source that Rick Snyder comes with a different mindset, which according to him is refreshing. Jim Kwilos echoed the thoughts of thousands of others when he said “It’s about jobs and productivity and things he can do that will benefit everybody in the state”.
