Des Moines, Iowa, Jan 3 (THAINDIAN NEWS) GOP presidential hopefuls will get an idea of how far their challenges will go when Iowans take to the polls today. Rick Santorum, who has seen his challenge for the Republican nomination boosted, is confident of a strong performance on Tuesday.

He and other contestants engaged in a last minute event to get the support of the younger voters in Iowa. The Rock the Vote event is partly funded by Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz who is among the supporters of Santorum.

Speaking about the prospects of the upcoming polls in Iowa when he appeared on Tuesday’s edition Good Morning America, Santorum said that, “I feel very good about where I am,” he said. “We’re going up. I feel very good about New Hampshire. They like this kind of politics too. We’re going to do very well tonight… Ten days ago we were in last place in the polls and people asked me why I didn’t get out.”

Santorum believes that his recent surge in the polls stems from the level of trust that the electorates are currently seeing in him. He was at the tail end of the polls but recent events seem to have favored him while almost ending the hopes of some other contestants like Newt Gingrinch.
