Rick Perry gets the backing of Dean Cannon
August 25th, 2011 - 7:57 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattAustin, Texas, Aug 25 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Texas Governor Rick Perry got a vital endorsement from the Florida House of Representatives speaker, Dean Cannon. Perry entered into the GOP race for the Presidential ticket about two weeks ago. The endorsement of Dean was contained in a statement which was released on Wednesday.
The statement said that, “President Obama’s big-government, Washington experiment has cost our nation more than 2.3 million jobs. Meanwhile, since just June 2009, Rick Perry’s Texas is responsible for approximately 40% of the net new jobs in America.”
Perry knows the effect that an endorsement from a personality like Dean could have on his campaign. In a statement on Wednesday, Perry admitted that, “I know that with Speaker Cannon’s help, we will win Florida’s primary, the Republican nomination, and ultimately, the Presidency.”
Perry is in a favorable position in polls conducted on the GOP race. A week before joining the race, Perry topped a poll which was conducted by American Research Group in July. He polled 16 percent of the votes with main challenger Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney coming in the second position with 15 percent. Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann had the same percentage marks and tied at the second position with Romney.
