Rep. Michelle Bachmann opens CPAC (conservative political action conference)
February 11th, 2011 - 12:02 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattWashington DC, Feb 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) After the apparent snub from Sarah Palin, the executives of the Conservative Political Action Conference fell on the new darling girl of the Tea Party to deliver the keynote address.
Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota is clearly the new darling of the Tea Party followers. In giving the keynote address Bachmann told the gathering that President Barack Obama has ushered in socialism in the United States.
Bachmann also never lost sight of the fact that the Tea Party has the brightest chance at this period during her speech. She said that, “If there was ever a time to make a change, this was it and you did it…we’re going to party.”
The conference is going to take three days and several top Republicans are billed to give their speeches. Most of the GOP 2012 hopefuls will also be given the chance to speak during the conference.
Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, Sen. John Thune of South Dakota, Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, Rep. Ron Paul of Texas and Gov. Rick Perry are all expected to attend the conference.
Conspicuously missing will be Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee.
