Reddy’s body reaches Hyderabad
September 3rd, 2009 - 10:03 pm ICT by IBNS ( Leave a comment )Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh), Sept 3 (IBNS) An Indian Air Force helicopter brought Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YSR Reddy’s dead body, along with four others, to Hyderabad Thursday evening from the base camp at Kurnool district.
Thousands of Reddy’s partymen, well-wishers and other political leaders crowded at the CM’s camp office here to pay their last tribute.
Bodies of Reddy’s Principal Secretary P Subrahmanyam, Chief Security Officer ASC Wesley, pilot Group Capt S K Bhatia and co-pilot Capt M S Reddy were also brought to the city.
According to media reports, post-mortem examinations were conducted on all five at Kurnool itself. The bodies were brought to Kurnool from the accident site Thursday afternoon.
Andhra Finance Minister and Caretaker Chief Minister K Rosaiah said the last rites of the CM will be conducted Friday.
“The last rites of YSR Reddy will take place at his birthplace at Pulivendula village in Kadapa district tomorrow (Friday). Before that his body will be kept at Lal Bahadur Stadium where his admirers, acquaintances and general public can pay their last respect to the tall leader of Indian politics,” Rosaiah told reporters at a press conference in Hyderabad Thursday.
Meanwhile, the bodies of Subrahmanyam, Wesely, Bhatia and M S Reddy were shifted to their residences in Somajiguda, Shanti Nagar, Yapral in Bollarum area and Vidya Nagar areas respectively. Later, the body of Wesely will be taken to his native place Adanki in Prakasam district, reported Times Now.
The Bell 430 helicopter carrying Reddy, two of his staff and two pilots went missing in pouring rain Wednesday morning over the Naxal and tiger-infested Nalamalla forests and with no contact until early Thursday.
An Indian Air Force helicopter located the crashed Bell 430 aircraft on top of Serai Salem hill at a distance of 40 nautical miles (74 km) east of Kurnool Thursday. Andhra CM YSR Reddy, Principal Secretary S Subramanyam, Chief Security Officer ASC Wesley and two pilots - Group Captain SK Bhatia and Captain MS Reddy, died in the air crash.
