paulKentucky, May 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Republican Rand Paul won the nomination for the primary election for the United States Senate, from the state of Kentucky, winning against Republican Trey Grayson, marking a great victory not only for the Republicans, but also the Tea Party movement. In fact, the win is also significant for another reason, this is the first time that Rand Paul has run for a seat, despite being the son of the erstwhile Representative Ron Paul. On the other hand, he has also won the seat against an established candidate, none other than Trey Grayson, and that too by huge margin.

It is being hoped that his win is going to bring about a renewed faith in the Tea Party movement, and that it would help the fledgling movement to gain ground in other states as well. Rand Paul is a prominent figure in the Tea Party movement, and therefore it is likely, feel the observers, that his victory is going to do a whole lot of good for the movement on a national scale. In fact, speaking about his win, Republican Rand Paul himself stressed on the effect that it is going to have on the movement, saying that it is a tremendous thing for them.

On the other hand, Trey Grayson himself too conceded that it is necessary for the party to unite on the side of Rand Paul, insisting that unity is most important for the party in the present political scenario. Rand Paul explained his victory as a sign of people realizing that the existing system needs to be broken down and new blood be introduced into it.
