Rameshwar Thakur takes over as Madhya Pradesh governor

Bhopal, June 30 (IANS) Senior Congress leader and former Karnataka governor Rameshwar Thakur was sworn in here Tuesday as the 18th governor of Madhya Pradesh.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Leader of Opposition in assembly Jamuna Devi, state Congress Committee president Suresh Pachouri, Madhya Pradesh cabinet ministers and other dignitaries were present on the occasion at Raj Bhavan.

Madhya Pradesh High Court Chief Justice A.K. Pattnaik administered the oath of office to Thakur, who takes over from Balram Jakhar on the expiry of his term.

Thakur, who was sworn-in as the 15th Governor of Karnataka on Aug 21, 2007, was transferred to Madhya Pradesh for the remainder of his term on June 24 this year.
