January 14th, 2012 - 8:31 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Jan 14 (IANS) A first information report (FIR) has been lodged against a man who threw ink at Baba Ramdev here Saturday, police said.
The attacker, Kamran Siddiqui, was detained by the police after he was caught and roughed up by Ramdev’s supporters in Constitution Club, where the yoga guru was holding a press conference.
Police said Siddiqui has been booked for promoting enmity between different groups and for assaulting or using criminal force against a person.
The FIR has been registered at the Parliament Street police station.
“When Baba said that the Batla House encounter was not fake, Kamran threw ink on him. He lives in Okhla (in south Delhi) and supposedly runs an NGO Real Cause,” a police officer said.
The Sep 19, 2008 Batla House shootout in Delhi left two alleged Indian Mujahideen members and one Delhi Police officer dead. But there have been allegations that the shootout was staged.
