Rajya Sabha candidate serves legal notice SamriteMarch 25th, 2008 - 1:10 am ICT by admin
Bhopal, March 24 (IANS) Kishor Samrite, the Samajwadi Party’s suspended legislator in Madhya Pradesh, was Monday served a legal notice by Vivek Tankha, a Congress-backed candidate for the Rajya Sabha, demanding an apology from him for accusing him of offering bribes. The notice sent on behalf of Tankha, through Advocate Shashank Shekhar of the Jabalpur High Court, warns Samrite of legal action if he did not tender an apology for attempting to tarnish his (Tankha’s) image by making bribery allegations against him.
“The apology is expected to be tendered in 48 hours of the receipt of the notice,” it said.
Samirite had March 18 accused the Congress of offering him money for voting in favour of Tankha.
Tankha is contesting as an independent with the Congress support and the Samajwadi Party too declared its support for him. But Samrite announced he would not support Tankha.
While the Congress has rejected his charge police have recorded his statement and are investigating the matter.
