New Delhi, Dec 9 (IANS) The Rajya Sabha was adjourned Wednesday after angry Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs raised the issue of the deteriorating condition of fasting Telengana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) leader K. Chandrasekhara Rao and demanded a statement from the government.
BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu raised the issue during zero hour saying Rao’s deteriorating condition was a matter of deep concern.
“The home minister is in the house. Why does not he make a statement?” asked BJP MP S.S. Ahluwalia.
Deputy Chairman K. Rehman Khan however expressed his inability to direct the government to give a statement during zero hour.
BJP MPs led by Narendra Pany and Prakash Javadekar then advanced to the speaker’s podium forcing Khan to adjourn the house at 12.20 p.m. for 15 minutes.
Home Minister P. Chidambaram who was present in the house sat silently through the din.
Rao’s fast-unto-death demanding a separate state of Telangana entered the 11th day Wednesday.
