P. Chidambaram New Delhi, Aug 9 (IANS) The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day Tuesday after BJP members raised the issue of police cane-charge on its youth wing workers at Jantar Mantar and demanded a statement from Home Minister P. Chidambaram on the issue.

The house was first adjourned for 15 minutes and later for the day.

Raising the issue during short duration discussion on the statement of Sports Minister Ajay Maken over appointment of Suresh Kalmadi as chief of Commonwealth Games Organising Committee, BJP members said some of its youth wing workers were injured and admitted to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

Members of BJP youth wing clashed with the police as the latter lobbed teargas shells to disperse them during a protest demonstration.

The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha activists were demanding resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit over the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on irregularities in the Commonwealth Games.
