Bharatiya Janata Party Ranchi, Sep 11 (IANS) Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh denied Saturday that the party was divided over making Arjun Munda the new chief minister of Jharkhand with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s (JMM) help.
“There are no differences in the party over government formation in Jharkhand. All these are media creation,” Rajnath Singh said after Munda took oath as the eighth chief minister of Jharkhand.

BJP sources said party veteran L.K. Advani was upset that he had been kept in the dark about Munda’s selection and the BJP’s decision to ally with the JMM again.

Besides BJP president Nitin Gadkari, Advani and other leaders like Sushma Swaraj kept away from the swearing in ceremony.

Asked about the stability of the government, Rajnath Singh said: “The government has been formed in the interest of the people of the state. The government will last long.”

The BJP and JMM joined hands in December after assembly polls threw up a hung house.

JMM chief Shibu Soren became chief minister with BJP’s support Dec 30 only to quit May 31.

The BJP withdrew support to Soren after he voted in favour of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in parliament in April.
