Rahul to meet Congress candidates for Uttar Pradesh polls

Lucknow, Dec 7 (IANS) Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi is arriving here Saturday to meet the recently selected 213 party nominees for the forthcoming assembly elections to the 403-member Uttar Pradesh assembly, party leaders said Wednesday.
He would also hold discussion with senior state Congress members to finalise the list of candidates for the remaining constituencies.
According to state Congress president Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Gandhi would be spending two days in Lucknow. While he would address state unit members Dec 10, he would meet representatives of the state Youth Congress, Mahila Congress, National Students Union of India (NSUI) and other frontal organisations Dec 11.
While returning to New Delhi later on Dec 11, Gandhi would be back in the state Dec 13 for the second leg of his “mass contact programme”. He proposes to spend five days in Kanpur and adjoining districts of central Uttar Pradesh.
