New Delhi, Aug 18 (IANS) The Congress Thursday hit out at those questioning party general secretary Rahul Gandhi’s silence on the Anna Hazare issue, saying he was not a “parrot”.
“Rahul will speak when he will feel like it. He is not a parrot,” Congress spokesperson Renuka Chowdhury told reporters.
Responding to a query whether the party finds itself in a difficult situation on the Hazare issue, particularly in the absence of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who is recuperating after surgery in a US hospital, Chaudhary said: “We miss her terribly.”
“We wish her a speedy recovery and comes back soon. Till then we are trying to do our best.”
On whether the government appeared to lack a strategy on the Hazare issue even after Sonia Gandhi had constituted a four-member group to look after party affairs, Chaudhary said: “The four-member team is for the party. Should we handle even the government?”
