New Delhi, Nov 2 (IANS) A new era of inclusive participation of youth in national service through politics is being ushered by Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, a Congress committee at its meeting here Tuesday said.
“This meeting appreciates and supports the initiatives taken by the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) and the National Students Union of India (NSUI) under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi to bring about a new era of inclusive participation of youth in national service through an election based political process at the grassroots level,” the All India Congress Committee (AICC) statement said.
The meeting of AICC members and Congress bigwigs highlighted the lack of development in tribal areas of the country.
“The lack of development leading to growing alienation of a section of the society, particularly in the tribal and other Left-wing extremism hit areas, has to be addressed urgently. This meeting calls upon the government to undertake time-bound implementation of the Integrated Action Plan for tribal and backward areas,” the statement said.
Saying that the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir has been restored with cooperation of the state government, the statement added that “appointment of interlocutors to carry forward the process of dialogue with various stake holders is a welcome measure”.
