Rahul Gandhi to visit Amethi Friday

Lucknow, July 15 (IANS) Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi will visit his parliamentary constituency Amethi in Uttar Pradesh Friday to meet party workers and others injured in a baton charge during a protest over power shortage Monday night, a party spokesperson said Wednesday.
“He (Rahul Gandhi) will be visiting Amethi Friday for a thanksgiving meeting with the party workers,” Akhilesh Pratap Singh, spokesperson of Uttar Pradesh Congress, told IANS.
Singh also said that “Gandhi will be holding five meetings with party workers, assembly segment-wise in Salon, Jagdishpur, Tiloi, Gauriganj and Amethi.”
Singh said that Gandhi would also be meeting the people who were injured in the police baton-charge July 13 during a protest over power crisis in his constituency.
Amethi is part of Sultanpur district, about 150 km from state capital Lucknow.
