Rahm Emanuel Reveals His Political Aspirations

539wWashington, Apr 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Rahm Emanuel, the chief of staff at the White House has made his intention of becoming the mayor of Chicago clear. He made his intention clear while giving an interview in recent times. However, he also said that he will continue as the chief of staff for the period president Barack Obama wants him to do. The revelation came at the PBS talk show hosted by Charlie Rose. However, if his ambition comes true then the Richard Daley, the incumbent mayor of the city will have to step down first. Rahm Emanuel tried to sound modest after letting out his desire.

He said that Richard Daley who is the mayor of Chicago, is a dear friend. Rahm Emanuel also added that Richard Daley has done justice to his role as mayor of the city. He said that Mayor Richard Daley may seek reelection but in case he does not, he will opt for the post. Rahm Emanuel said that becoming the mayor of Chicago is something he thought about when he was in the House of Representatives and he would like to be in touch with constituents. The White House chief staff is a native of Chicago. He used to be an Illinois congressman before he assumed his existing designation at the White House. Richard Daley has chosen to remain mum on the comment made by Rahm Emanuel so far.

The present Mayor of Chicago got elected to his post for the first time in 1989. Thereafter, he was re-elected 5 times. He has not made any remark on whether he will run in 2011.
