Punjab to absorb 14,000 teachers on contract
September 7th, 2010 - 5:05 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Sep 7 (IANS) The Punjab government here Tuesday announced that the services of nearly 14,000 contract teachers would be regularised.
The Punjab cabinet, which met here Tuesday, gave its approval for the regularisation of services of the 9,998 teaching fellows and 4,000 education service providers recruited on contract basis by the department of school education.
The services of these teachers will be regularised with effect from April 1, 2011, a state government spokesman said.
