Chandigarh, May 31 (IANS) A Central Bureau of Investigation special court in Punjab Tuesday granted bail to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Raj Khurana who was arrested for allegedly demanding Rs.1.5 crore in bribe for closing a case.
Khurana, who was chief parliamentary secretary in Punjab government, was arrested May 5. Bhag Singh, personal secretary of BJP leader Swarna Ram, was also arrested.
CBI special judge Ritu Tagore Tuesday granted bail to both Khurana and Bhag Singh on bonds of Rs.5 lakh each.
The CBI counsel opposed the bail plea saying that Khurana belonged to the ruling party and could tamper with the evidence in the case.
