Punjab assembly adjourned after pandemonium
December 10th, 2009 - 6:29 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Chandigarh, Dec 10 (IANS) The Punjab assembly, which witnessed a free-for-all Tuesday with ruling Akali Dal and opposition Congress members coming to blows inside the house, was adjourned Thursday for some time after members exchanged heated arguments.
The assembly was adjourned for one hour by Speaker Nirmal Singh Kahlon.
During the afternoon session, Congress legislators, led by Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, raised slogans against the Akali Dal government.
The Congress members were criticising a senior Akali leader whose name allegedly figured in a scam during the Akali Dal’s previous tenure in the state from 1996 to 2001.
Meanwhile, the assembly also passed a resolution condemning Tuesday’s incident.
